Samancor, a front-runner in the heavy engineering and mineral processing industry, is initiating four distinct Graduate in Training programmes. These programmes are a part of Samancor’s commitment to foster talent in the fields of Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Metallurgical Engineering. Offering a structured 24-month training period under the mentorship of experienced professionals, these programmes aim to cultivate industry-ready experts.
Samancor’s Graduate in Training Programmes Benefits
Graduate in Training programmes offer a range of benefits:
- Robust Training: Successful candidates will embark on a two-year intensive, structured Graduate in Training Development Programme, designed to build industry-relevant skills and knowledge.

- Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Compliance: Trainees will learn to identify and manage continuous risk exposures, ensuring compliance with SHEQ requirements.

Samancor’s Graduate in Training Programmes Eligibility
To be considered for these Graduate in Training programmes, applicants must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech Degree (specific to each engineering discipline)
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office)
For a competitive edge, experience in the relevant engineering environment will be advantageous.

Candidates interested in the Graduate in Training programmes are encouraged to apply via the Samancor’s Current Opportunities page.
Please note that the company reserves the right to not award the GIT programme to any applicant if none meet the requirements as determined by the selection panel. Completing the programme does not automatically guarantee a job opportunity within the company.
In the final selection process, consideration will be given to achieving Samancor Chrome’s employment equity objectives.
Application Date
The application closing date for all four Graduate in Training programmes is 14 May 2023.
Following a 12-month fixed term contract, a performance and GIT Programme review will be conducted. This review will determine the extension of the contract for the remaining duration of the programme.
