We are not just making this announcement known but also providing various steps on how to apply online for the Vaal University of Technology, VUT admission.

To use the Vaal University of Technology, VUT online application feature, you must have a working internet device, a valid email address which is not shared with another Vaal University of Technology, VUT applicant, your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number. Kindly follow the easy steps below to apply online for VUT (Vaal University of Technology Online Application) admission:    

1. Apply Online    

  • Step 1: Please apply online via the Vaal University of Technology, VUT Application Portal if you are enrolling in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Study Abroad or Graduate School of Business Exchange Programme.    
  • Step 2: Kindly click on “Online Application” to proceed.
  • Step 3: If you are a first-time user, you will then be prompted to answer ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ to the required fields  
  • Step 4: After you are done with the above steps, you will then be taken to the page where you will be required to fill in all the necessary information, like your Personal Details, Nationality, Address Information, disability information, Study Choices, Residential Address, Postal Address, Contact Details, Demographic Details, Next of Kin, Emergency Contact, Current Activities, Employment, Education, Indemnity and Undertaking, make Payment (Check the Vaal University of Technology, VUT Application Fee and how to Pay Here) and upload the necessary Documents.    
  • Step 5: Complete all the fields and click ‘Next’ at each interval to proceed. 
  • Step 6: When you are done, kindly click on the ‘Submit‘ button to get your application submitted.

Please Note: 

When applying online and the system displays this error “Id number already exists,” note that this may be due to the following: you may have applied before or did not complete the application process.

Please use the following steps in order to proceed with the application process:

  • Send an email to enrollment@vut.ac.za indicating your challenge.
  • Please include the following for verification:
    • Surname and Initials:
    • Contact number:
  •  You will get feedback within 48 hours (your student number and pin)
  • You are to log in

2. Acknowledgement of Application    

  • You will receive an email confirming online submission of your application immediately.   
  • Within three working days, you should receive formal acknowledgment of your application along with your student number and log-in details.   
  • Note that this acknowledgement does not mean you’ve been accepted or admitted to Vaal University of Technology, UL.   

3. Upload Supporting Documents    

In order to consider your application, please upload every necessary supporting documents listed below on this article. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the university. 

4. Acceptance of Offer    

When we update your application, you will receive an email notification. Please monitor your email account closely for updates. You can also check your status online with the log-in credentials that we will send you after you apply. We are not permitted to disclose your application status telephonically.

Upload certified copies of the following in PDF format when you apply for undergraduate studies: 

  • Your ID if you are a South African citizen 
  • Your passport, if you are an international student 
  • Your guardian’s or parent’s ID or passport if you are younger than 18 years 
  • National Senior Certificate if you have already matriculated 
  • Your final Grade 11 results with the school’s stamp if you are still in Grade 12 
  • Your academic record is only valid if you are a current student at another institution of higher learning 
  • accreditation from the examination board for South African universities, only if you are an international student.
  • Apply to mb.usaf.ac.za for conditional exemption, foreign conditional exemption, or mature age conditional exemption.

  • The fee changes on an annual basis so it would be in your best interest to consult the call Centre on 0861 861 888 or the admissions office via email (admissions@vut.ac.za) to determine the correct amount. You can also check out the application form.

  • All VUT Open Days are currently virtual. This is to ensure that our stakeholders stay safe and healthy. 

8. Can I still change my course or qualification after applying?

  • You can change your course if there is space in the Faculty you would like to change to and if you meet the admission requirements. You can send your request to the admission office at: enrollment@vut.ac.za

9. How do I apply for VUT residences?

  • You can apply for the residences when you apply to study at VUT by completing the online application. The options for the different residences are on the online application.  

10. Can I still qualify to study at your university if I study at another institution?

  • When you apply, you still need to add your matriculation certificate with the academic record from your current institution. The Faculty will decide about admission and credits. 

11. I am having technical difficulties during the online application process; who can I contact?

12. How long does it take to get feedback after applying?

  • We aim to reply as soon as possible, but we receive a large number of applications. This is also dependent on the submission of all relevant documentation and the time frame in which you apply.

  • Yes, an applicant is required to fill out another application form to apply for the coming year.

17. Can I change campuses?

  • Yes, you can change campuses if and only if the course is offered at the campus on which you wish to study. This would also depend on space availability.

18. Where do I buy my text books?

Van Schaik’s Bookstore is situated near the Examinations office and Desmond Tutu Hall. Senior students also advertise the sale of their old text books on the university’s notice boards and Sun City.

19. Does VUT have residences?

  • VUT is a residential university that provides a vibrant, multi-cultural student life experience that develops students holistically. VUT provides different types of residences for students at different stages of the student life cycle.

20. How do I apply for Residences?

  • Application forms for residences can be obtained online or at the admissions office.

21. Can I get private accommodation?

  • There are private accommodations around the University.

22. How much does it cost to live in Res?

23. What is meant by compulsory and recommended subjects?

  • Compulsory subjects are specific subject combinations that are required in order for an applicant to be admitted to a specific course. These subjects form the basis for further studies and are requirements for specific fields of study.
  • Recommended subjects are subjects that are not required for admission to a specific course but are useful as they will build on your current knowledge base and enable you to understand certain terms and formulas better.

24. Do I need mathematics or mathematical literacy to study at VUT?

  • Yes. Certain programmes require math, as opposed to mathematical literacy, in order to be accepted. Refer to the undergraduate admission requirements for subject-specific requirements.
