The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) offers a dedicated bursary program for individuals pursuing Chartered Accountancy studies. This bursary program, established by one of the most prestigious auditing institutions in the country, is aimed at building public confidence through transparency and accountability in government and public sector finances.


AGSA Chartered Accountancy Bursary Eligibility

Study Focus:

  • Chartered Accountancy studies specifically: BCom Accounting CA stream, Bachelor of Accounting CA stream, and BCompt.

Institutional Affiliation:

  • Enroll or intend to enroll at a university accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

Citizenship:

  • Only South African citizens are eligible.

  • A determined commitment to achieving success.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.

Specific Criteria Based on Study Year:

Matric applying for 1st year:

  • Matric exemption with university entrance.
  • Minimum of 60% in English and Maths (Maths Literacy not accepted).
  • Required documents: Copy of ID, Grade 11 year-end results, university acceptance letter, and Grade 12 mid-year results.

1st year applying for 2nd year:

  • Minimum of 60% in Financial Accounting.
  • A minimum of 60% in both Maths and English during Matric.
  • Required documents: Copy of ID, Matric results, and current academic record.

2nd Year applying for 3rd year:

  • Minimum of 60% in Financial Accounting and Management Accounting.
  • Required documents: Copy of ID and full academic record.

Final year applying for postgraduate studies:

  • Minimum of 55% in all core modules of the chartered accountancy program.
  • Acceptance into the CTA program.
  • Required documents: Copy of ID, full academic record, and CTA program acceptance letter.
