Every year, the DHET publishes vacant positions for interested and qualified South African citizens to apply for. This year is no exception. Therefore, the Jobs are listed below, together with their requirements, roles, salaries, and qualifications.

DHET CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. IT TECHNICIAN

Requirements:

  • Matric Certificate or NCV Level 4 plus a recognised Diploma or Degree qualification (NQF Level 6 or 7) in Information Technology or related qualification
  • At least 1 to 2 years’ work experience in the IT Field as an IT Technician.
  • The industry-recognised certifications such as MCSE/MCITP, A+, N+ Security+, and ITIL will be an added advantage.
  • Working experience in government transversal systems will serve as an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of supporting registration systems, i.e., Coltech, ITS, and/or similar.
  • Good communication, problem solving, ICT infrastructure support, and Customer relationship skills
  • Experience in Network Administration.
  • Valid Driver’s licence.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide Local Area Network and Desktop support services: Creating user accounts on desktops and laptops (mailbox and Windows)
  • Unlocking of passwords and setting up desktops, printers, and data projectors
  • Configuring mainframe applications. *Provide support for data migration during computer setup.
  • Provide telephonic support and troubleshooting of all issues reported.
  • Gather and analyse users’ issues in the ICT Section and provide solutions.

  • Applicants can register their profiles and apply for posts online.
  • Applicants must ensure that they click on the correct post and post number when applying 

Applicants are to take cognizance of the following:

  • All information must be captured on the online profile. The system will generate a curriculum vitae (CV) for you. Uploading documents is not necessary.
  • When shortlisted for an interview, certified copies of all supporting documentation (e.g., qualifications, driver’s licence, identity document, etc.) must be submitted to the interview committee.
  • Non-RSA citizens and permanent resident permit holders must submit a copy of their Permanent Resident Permit with their on-line 
  • Only online applications will be considered.
