Chinese Government Student Scholarships – 2025

The application for the Chinese Government Student Scholarships for the academic year 2025 is now open by Chinese Government for all international students. 

Scholarship

The Chinese Government is offering scholarships for international students to study at participating Chinese universities in 2025. It is meant for students that intend to, or are currently studying towards master’s and doctoral programmes. The hosting institution is stated below:

CHINESE GOVERNMENT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY

Basic Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be in good health both mentally and physically.
  2. Applicants must be citizens of a countries other than the People’s Republic of China.
  3. Consciously abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the rules and regulations of theuniversity.
  4. No Double Benefits Allowed -Students cannot receive multiple scholarships.

Other Requirements:

  1. When applying for a master’s degree program, be a bachelor’s degree holder under 35. When applying for a doctoral degree program, be a master’s degree holder under 40.
  2. Language proficiency certificate

Chinese-taught programs

  • HSK level 4≥210 scores (valid for two years);
  • If the language of instruction in the previous degree is Chinese, the applicant can provide the Chinese language instruction certificate issued by the previous institution ;
  • No requirement for applicants’ English proficiency.

English-taught programs:

  •  TOEFL≥80 scores, academic IELTS≥6.0(no subtest lower than 5.5),
  • If the language of instruction in the previous degree is English, the applicant can provide the English language instruction certificate issued by the previous degree institution;
  • No requirement for applicants’ Chinese proficiency.
  • Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).

Education requirements and age limits

HOW TO APPLY FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Step 1: Complete the application on the CSC Online Application System.

The online application system is available at http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/.


Step 2: Pay the application fee of USD 60 or CNY 400.

Note:

  1. 1. The application fee is non-refundable. Currently, Alipay or WeChat payment is not supported.
  2. Please mark the applicant’s passport number on the remittance voucher.

Step 3Submit all application documents to StudyatHIT@hit.edu.cn


Step 4Receive the confirmation Email from the Office of International Students Admission of HIT.

Reminder: The admission officer will follow up on the application via email. Please check your email frequently—response averages within 24 hours (can be delayed due to the high number of emails). Please be patient if we don’t respond in time.


Supporting Documents Checklist:

The application documents in other languages must be notarized in either English or Chinese.

  1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship is available at http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/
  2. Passport homepage.
  3. Highest graduate certificate (the expected graduation certificate can be acceptable, but the original graduation certificate must be submitted at the time of registration).
  4. Academic transcripts(from undergraduate program onwards).
  5. Language proficiency certificate.
  6. A study plan at least 1,500 words (write according to HIT requirements. The template is below).
  7. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.(The content shall describe the applicant’s study objectives, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future development).
  8. Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (valid within six months). The physical examination must cover all the items listed in the examination form. Incomplete records or those without the attending physician’s signature, the hospital’s official  stamp, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid.
  9. Bank receipt of application feeUSD 60 or CNY 400.
  10. Non-criminal record report (usually issued within six months before the application submission date).
  11. Acceptance letter (optional). An applicant is encouraged to contact HIT’s supervisors ahead of submission.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS

Completed applications need to be submitted by  23/01/2024.

Note: Please note that the above deadline differs from what is contained in the guidelines below, due to the processing of applications and selection processes that need to be completed by the DHET as the nominating agency. Failure to submit applications and supporting documents by the above due date will result in your application not being considered.
